I installed win98, all was well until I tried to restart,Igot this message,
"WINDOWS PROTECTION ERROR,RESTART YOUR COMPUTER" When I restarted it will
only re-boot in safe mode.
Any help please.

Boot into safemode and try one of these options :
If you have a Matrox video adapter and Norton Anti-virus software you'll need to download the latest drivers for your Matrox card.
If you have EZ-SCSI and Easy-CD pro you'll need to uninstall those programs. (there may be a patch for this from the manufacturer's web site.)
Most of the info on Micosoft's web site points to a startup program causing the error. So if the other solutions don't apply to you, try booting into safemode and using the system configuration tool to deselect some of those startup programs.
