I use the first release of 98, and I want to ugrade. The MS site was no help. Where are how can I get the second release upgrade.
I am usually based in the UK. Do MS offer it as a download.?
Do a search of computer store in the UK for the Windows98 Second Edition Update disk, sells for about $35 (US).

MS used to have it on their site, I ordered it a while ago...it was $20 plus shipping
Don't know if they still offer it though

I checked for this afternoon and couldn't find it there, that's why I said to search for it over there (anyway doesn't MS just ship to US and Canada?). It seems that MS is trying to steer evryone toward ME..........

After I posted I went and looked and couldn't find it...I found a link that was supposed to take me to the order page, but it was dead...
And why would MS want anyone to be able to get SE for $20 when they can charge $50 for the 98 to ME upgrade or $199 for the 2000 upgrade?

Try Pricewatch (http://www.pricewatch.com) it might take some digging, but maybe you can find a UK based seller there. Shipping from the US would eat your lunch. Maybe you could have a friend here get it for you and mail it. Lots cheaper on shipping...if you happen to have an online friend you think you can trust...
Also, I would just bite the bullet and get the upgrade or full install CD rather than the update, one less installation to deal with...

Thanks for the help guys. MS have stopped the offer in UK. They were charging approx 25 dollars for the upgrade. They are however sufggesting I buy the full version for approx 145 dollars.
Hmmm hard decision.
If I can find it cheap i'll try to pick it up. Otherwise altrnative means will have to be found.!.
Thanks again

By downloading ALL upgrades....you basically have Win 98 SE without modem sharing....and a couple of other minor things I cant even remember.

Try here for the update downloads to Windows 98. I think you can order a cd with the SP1 update on it but if you have a fast internet connection you can just download it. www.microsoft.com/windows98/ (http://www.microsoft.com/windows98/)
