Annoying situations, not real trouble. Just installed Windows 98 SE on a new system.
When I use Windows Explorer to look at the Windows Folder, it does not show the files. Instead I get a message that warns me about messing with these files. I have to click on part of the message to get at the files.
The Windows 98 SE on my older system never did this. That version was an upgrade to SE from the older Win98. I installed to my new system from a full version, not an upgrade. It is a fairly recent version ov Win98 SE.
There must be a way to get this system to trust me. Who owns this system? Microsoft or I?
Another problem I expect to solve, but would appreciate advice. This version of Windows 98 insists on showing folders as Web pages with large icons. When I change these options it works while I am working with the folder. The next time I open a folder, these options come back to haunt me. I have tried a few scenarios involving "Remember this folders view options." But have not hit on the correct sequence of option clicking.
BTW, somebody recently told me that Windows ME is designed to be Windows for dummies and it is impossible to access certain features that more knowledgeable people regularly use.
Is this true? A friend of mine is totally frustrated by ME.
