Hi guys, a quick question. My bro in law is having a problem with sound control. It's always pretty quiet, although the sound does work and comes through fine. I was trying to put the volume control icon on his pc, but in control panel/multimedia, it tells me to go install it with add/remove programs. I've tried it already and I can't seem to find it anywhere. My pc already has it, so I'm not sure what is going on. His system has the following:
win 98
and 300 mhz
64 m ram
6.4 gig hd
sound blaster 16 sound card
any ideas?

Check to see if it is in Start/Programs/Accessories/Entertainment/Volume Control in there is an option to put the volume control in the systray. If it is not there you will need to install it with the Win 98 disk by going to Start/Control Panel/Add Remove Programs/Windows Setup/Multimedia/Volume Control.

Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel. Double-click Multimedia, and on the Audio page, make sure the box is checked for "Show volume control icon on the taskbar".
