My Machine came with a Pre installed version of Windows ME. Iam experiencing a lot of problems with ME and after consulting some of my frineds, I have decided to go back to Windows 98. I know if I had upgraded to Windows Me from a lower version, I can use the Uninstall Option of Windows ME. Can someone help me with the procedure to uninstall the pre installed versuon of Windows ME and install Windows 98.

You might not like my solution, so wait for others to reply as well. I would format the hard drive and start over if it were mine. You can back up any data, letter or other files to whatever device you have...ie: zip, floppy or a cd burner; however, you cant copy Win programs....they will have to be reinstalled on the Win 98 os. Here is how you would do it:
1. Create a win98 startup disk and include "format.com" from the Windows directory on that disk
2. at the A: prompt......type format_C: (remember, this will WIPE your hard drive of ALL data when you do it.....so be CERTAIN you have your data off of the drive that you want to keep). When it's done........
3. Put the Win 98 Startup disk in the computer (be sure the bios is set to "see the A drive first")........choose "CD rom support"
4. At the A prompt.type D: then hit enter.......
....type setup..............the win98 setup will begin.
There are some other solutions to your problem, but they require a lot of knowledge of the Windows Registry and other matters that VERY experienced folks even have trouble with. Good luck.
