Can anyone out there please help me figure out why my new Radeon 64 DDR VIVO card won't work in my Abit KT7 RAID mainboard? I'm running an AMD 900 and Windows ME. When the system attempts to boot into Win ME. the screen freezes up and becomes corrupt (fixed, vertical, colored lines). All of this with JUST THE VIDEO CARD INSTALLED, NO OTHER CARDS! I've tried just about everything I know (which isn't much). I also had the same problem with another high-end 3D video card (Hercules 3D Prophet Pro) and eventually had to return the card. I can't find the conflict. I have all of the latest VIA drivers and the latest BIOS. C'mon folks, help me out here. I spent too much money for this card and mainboard!

With the the way your desribing the colors and lines, it sounds very much like bad video memory. If possible, try another AGp or PCI video card that is known good to test with. Hope this helps.

Make sure you have installed the lastest 4in1 drivers from VIA.(installed in AGP turbo mode). Then boot into safe mode and install the standard VGA drivers. Reboot and then install the Radeon drivers. ( don't install the Beta ones)

I bet it would install easily on a Win98 SE system! The problem may be with Win ME and the vid card drivers. Any new drivers at the mfg web site??

Does the Abit mobo support DDR in a Win ME environment??

You might have better luck with Windows 98 as Randy has stated. Windows ME has problems with some video cards. If you have an another Hard Drive Try Installing Win 98 on it. If the card works with Win 98 than its the Win ME operating system giving you problems on the Video card.
