I noticed MS has put DX 8.0a on the update page. I have heard the horror stories regarding 8.0 any word on whether this version is any better? There is no mention in the "read me" file...of course they don't usually admit failures either.

Installed it and a few of my games failed to load without any other add ons to the system, they all worked before. Eg: Rogue Spear. Project IGI also started to experience glitches... too many to name.

I think it it dependent on your graphics card. I have a Voodoo 4 4500.

Richard is right, when it is on it is there to stay so exercise caution as I have just backed up and then reformatted my hard drive to rid myself of it. In the other side of the coin have noticed a few improvements... take your pick

I went ahead about a month ago and all is well...Rogue Spear works great. I just off line with my nephew we were doing the RS on line. I guess it is just picky about some systems.

Installed it some time ago and have had no problems with any game including Project IGI.. Check to see if there is an update for you video card. By the way if you go into M$ knowledge database you can find a way of getting rid of DX8..
