Using an old PackardBell 720x. When trying to boot screen "invalid configuration informationsays press f1 to continue or f2 to run set up utility" But neither button gets me anywhere.
Please help (this is my little girls start-up computer)

Hey confused, old sys.i'm looken through my old 486ES books now see if any thing will match did you try using the shift key with the f1-f2 at same time.And how are you trying to boot Cd -floppy?you could try CTRL+ALT+S see what comes up with disk drive. come back with some more info see if we can't get you runnen. invalid configuration ?? could mean any thing with PB. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

Tried shift f1, f2 ctrl -alt-s
no go.
From other sources im thinking maybe the battery is dead but don't know anything about those matters.

you could try the battery?? it's inside the case about the size of a quarter . you could try www.geocitiees.com (http://www.geocitiees.com) if any one knows packard bell sys. it's this man.but if you want to post more info we'll try to help ya.

Look for a line on the first bootup screen that tells you what keypress gets you into BIOS. Usually it's [Del], [F1] or similar.
Change the battery, that sounds like the problem.
