I had Win 2K on the secondary HD on my machine and just removed the partition using Delpart.exe. Fdisked and formatted and everything's fine. How do I remove the boot option that I'm given at startup seeing as Win 2K is no longer an option?

It's okay. I wiped the drive. I experimented with a Partition program and made a booboo so I'm doing a clean install.

In case you find yourself in the same situation again, here is a helpful page (http://www.budja.com/w2k/uninstall_w2k.html). Helped me out, anyway.

Thanks kenja. I went looking for those files, not thinking that they're hidden. Doh! Yet another good link bookmarked.

hello.
you can remove the boot option by finding the file called boot.ini and opening it in notepad. just remove the line with the o/s you want to remove. probably better with a full uninstall as kenja advises.

Bogart is bang on with his answer but first you will have to change the properties of the file. Right click on the file and go down to properties and then uncheck read only and click apply. Change the file by removing the line refering to the OS you don't wanna see anymore and then save it. Then reverse the above and make it a read only file again so nobody screws around with the file later.

PS: The boot.ini file is a hidden file in the root of C.
