I have an Athlon 850Mhz CPU with 256Mb of PC 133 RAM and a 40Gb Hard disk.

I cannot remember what I did to cause it but everytime I boot up I get an error box with a yellow triangle on the left side with a black exclamation mark in it. The top title bar contains "Rundll32" and the text is " Rundll32 has caused an error in NEWDOTNET3_20.DLL. Rundll32 will now close. If you continue to experience problems, try restarting your computer"

My mail program, NetcMail 5, will not download mail anymore either. I get a similar error box but entitled "NM5" and the text "NM5has caused an error in NM5.EXE. NM5 will now close etc etc.

I have reinstalled Windows Me but I still get the same message. When I installed windows I did disable "Process System.ini" and "Win.ini" could that be the problem? I just don't know. please help

You can e-mail me at spkuc@yahoo.com at address spkuc@yahoo.com
Thanks

I can't find any specific info on your problem but I came up with some interesting stuff on newdotnet...here (http://www.cexx.org/newnet.htm), here (http://www.escape.ca/~baccus/newdotnet.htm), and this one (http://www.cexx.org/morennbs.htm) and I have seen several recommendations for running AdAware (http://www.lavasoft.de)...

Thanks for that info and for anyone else who may have a similar problem or is simply interested suggest you have a read of the article about Foistware: New Net, Inc. (NewDotNet) DLL at http://www.cexx.org/newnet.htm.

Makes interesting reading and I have e-mailed New.Net and they have sent me 2 pages, yes two pages, of instructions as to how to remove their application.

Everything falls into place now because in the recent past I noticed that when I was connected to the internet even though I had no apps/progs at all running the modem icon in the system tray was flickering away as if I was downloading. And this went on a long time not just a few seconds. I cannot believe companies can be allowed to covertly install applications on someone else's computer AND launch it without their knowledge!!

Anyway enough of that and I'm off to see if these instructions cure the problem and thanks again.

Just as an update I have carried out the instructions from New.Net and got rid of the RUNDLL32 error. It involved quite a bit of Registry editing which I am familiar with but it would be a nightmare for someone who is not familiar with the registry and what a minefield it is.

However my mail will still not download. I have contacted them again and wait with baited breath for yet more pages of instructions.
