I have a Toshiba, Satellite Pro 4280. Pentium III and 64 MB RAM. Windows Me and Office 2000. Getting error message from Norton Anti Virus 2001 on start up. Tried Symantec Manual uninstall, no change. Seems there is a windows problem. Tried reinstalling Me from the C drive and from a CD. No good, it freezes, displaying a light grey full screen. Reset time, dammit!
Tried booting from a diskette, then reinstalling Me. No good, same as above.
I suspect a file quarantined by NAV was deleted, can't be sure though.
I'm bushed, can anyone help to fix this please.
Do I have to clear everything and reformat/reinstall? If so can I do it (I'd need a comprehensive guide) or is it a job for the repair shop?
Thanks in anticipation. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/frown.gif

Since you have the NAV error message, have you searched to find out what exactly the error message means and solutions through Symantec? I would expect that you would be able to zero in on a fix through them. If you outright purchased the software you should have access to their tech-support.

Also, have you opened any attachments to any emails recently?

May all your dealings in life be win/win!

Sounds to me like you have run into an Auto-Protect timing conflict here.
Not possative but most likley, can you get into safe mode if you can I would save every thing that i could and then take to a shop or go to

www.symantec.com (http://www.symantec.com) type in Auto-Protect timing conflicts

see if this matches what you describe????

Thanks for help guys. I was to cryptic with my original message. Symantec support replied "You have a windows problem". However the good news is that I managed to get Me reinstalled and it seems to be working fine. What baffles me is I don't know what caused it or what fixed it????????. Thanks again.
