Hi

I have a 4 gig hard drive which is partioned 50/50 (ie. two 2 gig partitions). The problem is that one of the partitions is an NT partition and I cannot remove it.

I have tried using fdisk but it tells me that I cannot remove a partition while a logical drive exists, or some thing like that, but it is really contradictory. I have also tried setting the NT partition as the primary partition but it does not allow me to do that either.

I have also tried formating the hard drive, but it just formats the windows partition.

I am totally stuck. I know 2 gigs seems liitle but I only have one other hard drive (6 gb) and I have run out of space.

I’m not sure if your Fdisk Version can handle removing Logical drives and NT partitions.
What Version of Fdisk are you using?
Win.?

Before you get frustrated. Us Fdisk and select the option (Remove Logical drive) first.
If it doesn’t show any Logical drives then you need to get another Fdisk or partition program that will remove it

if you are able to remove the logical drive.
Then remove the partition.

Then Use create extended partition to create a second dos partition Or remove the first dos partition and create one large partition
** IF YOU Remove the First DOS Partition You Will LOOSE ALL Data on that partion***

Hi Jack.... Ease over to the section (Forum) How Do I--- Read thru the Topic: Reformat Hard Drive that was started by Scottypup. Your answers are within that thread.

You can do a Low Level Format or make yourself a Bootdisk that will erase the NTFS partition.

Thanks goes to iisbob for the Bootdisk help on this one.
