Does anyone know of any problems with removing winme on a machine dual booted with win2k? I would like to remove winme as win2k works fine and is way more stable. Would I be able to use the entire HD, or would the pc keep the part used previously for winme as fat32, instead of converting it to ntfs?

thanks, crussty

You should be able to Remove Winme with no ill effects.
I don’t know what you would need to do to convert the fat32 to ntfs.
However it wouldn’t hurt anything to just leave it fat32..

You will need to make the changes to win2k’s dual boot feature so it doesn’t try to dual boot .
Removing the ME settings from it.
It should then just boot 2K

If you have links to any of the programs installed in ME they should also be removed.

Hi. Did you install Win2K to a different drive or partition? If so, assuming ME was installed first, you can just delete all the ME files on the C: drive. However, you must leave the Win2K boot files on the primary boot partition. Not sure what these files are atm (just check the MS site), but dont do a DELETE C:*.*

For formatting, and general partition/drive work, PowerQuest Partition Magic is an essential tool, and pretty cheap too. You can change the file system, resize partitions, etc, etc, all without losing your data.
