One of my childrens friends decided to install Win 98 on the childrens computer (PB C115) while I wasn't home one day. In the middle of the installaion the CD Rom played out. I have now bought a new CD Rom and installed it. When you boot up it does not reconize the hard drive or the CD Rom even though I have installed the drivers for the CD Rom so I can't restore my system wiht the system disk and CD ROM. I'm at a total loss after working with this for two days. I've tried the DEVICE NEC_IDE.SYS /D:007 and it says Bad Command line. Any ideas???

Check the jumpers on back of the CD ROM drive, sounds like it's set to Master, and I'd bet the hard drive is also set to Master.

You might also check into putting it on the secondary IDE instead of primary, then you can leave it as Master, and a cable should be under $5 at any computer shop.
