WinME search window won't search

I've had windows me for quite some time, and the only glitch i've seen is that it will lost its ability to search the hard drive for files. when i click on the "search" button on the top of the folder window and try to search, it won't do anything. i fixed it somehow before on another hard drive, but i don't remember how. if anyone knows, please let me know. thanks.
