If the block of the two PS/2 connectors keyboard and mouse is defficient on a motherboard, is it possible to replace it oneself, or should I change the entire motherboard ???

If the PS 2 "modules" can be replaced, I've never seen it done and the cost in labor would get close to the cost of a new motherboard (and you would still have a suspect motherboard)......so the best advice is to replace the motherboard. If it was ONLY the mouse, you could just connect a serial mouse to the system and keep goin.
