When I turn on the computer and my desktop shows, my c: drive also pops up. I then have to close it before proceeding. What can I do to stop the c: drive from popping up on my desktop. I have windows 98 operating system

Look in your start/program files/startup folder to see if a shortcut to your C: drive has been added, if so just delete it.
Can't think of anything else off hand that may cause this unless someone's created a script to run to explore your C: drive.

In most cases the first reason is the most common .
You had a window open when you shut down and windows is set to remember what the desktop was at that time.
