I have two Windows Millenium machines, on a peer to peer network cable, and i use a cable modem as access to the internet. My question is this, My machine, is the main machine with the cable modem and the dual network cards. I can connect to the internet and what not. I can also view my second machine through "network places" and the second computer can see me. But the second comp cannot access the internet. I have run the "Home networking wizard" and ICS is running. I have tried assigning primary and secondary ip addresses to both computers, but nothing seems to work. If you could tell me what i should set both cards to, I would really appreciate it. Ie. subnet,ip,gateway and so forth.

To make each other see each other, right click network places and hit properties, Click on your ethernet card tcp/ip settings. Go to Ip address tab, type in 192.168.0.1 and subnet: 255.255.255.0
On the other do the same and type in 192.168.0.2 and same subnet. This should fix that problem

Set the private IP of your first computer (something looks like 192.168.x.x) as the default gateway for your second compuer. Hopefully this would help.

With your primary system (server) running and connected,
You should be able to use the Internet options in control panel on the second system.
Under connection use the LAN as connection type.
Under the Lan Setting button on the bottom of the window.
Use the autodetect

In your Network protocol options for Tcp/ip you should have dhcp checked on both systems

When you network a ME computer,you need to run the Home Networking Wizard.That is found in your "My Network Places"The second or third screen,will be Internet Connection,you need to check "yes" and "Another computer on my network provides access to the internet".A couple of other things you can check on your TCP/IP make sure the auto get ip is checked,make sure your "NetBEUI" protocol is installed.re-boot the ME computer,the run winipcfg(goto Start>Run>winipcfg) to be sure you got a IP.See if you can "PING"both computers(from the DOS command line type "ping IP" IP being the IP of the other computer) Also I belive there is a Network Troubleshooting guide in ME.Try this site if none of that helps http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif http://www.wown.com/

Good Luck;
