Hello, recently when i try to start up
my computer the POST claims not to know
my CPU speed (233mmx). POST reports
this to be a seroius problem and will
not let me boot.

I have checked the mobo switches and
made sure the CMOS wasn't cleared. I
have also reset the settings in the
set-up menu to default settings...

Thanks for reading my post. STeve

Given that I will have to do some quesswork here.....I beleive you will have to Push F1 when you get the post error and that will take you into bios setup and there you will have to go to the "CPU setup"(or something like that) box and choose the correct cpu mhz for your cpu.....then save and reboot......should post fine now.

Hi randy_tx. Yes i tried all the basic stuff. Everything checks. I even tried under-clocking the cpu. I still just get "???" for processor speed. Very frustrating.

If anyone has a hp vectra vl6 series i would apprieciate feedback. at flat_line@webtv.net...please i can't deal with webtv much longer... http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

If you have the cpu settings right and still get this error.....you have a memory or motherboard problem I thinks!
