Yep, the Acer PII-333 machine we picked up when the stepdaughter -- oh, nevermind -- has migrated from the AT/ATX hardware topic over to software. I guess that's progress ...
Here's the deal. When I got the power supply fixed, the machine came right up, I tested everything but the modem and it all seemed okay -- system was Win98se, and no, I didn't read any of the emails that lead to -- oh, right, we're not talking about that. ANYHOW, my Gateway CrystalScan 14 worked fine. I formatted the hard drive, installed Win95b (after the usual mishaps), lots of stuff works but the monitor is now a generic VGA device, 16 colors, low resolution and all. UGGG-LY. And I can't convince Win that it ought to do better; every time I get anything to change and restart Win, I get complaints and a fast trip to the DISPLAY screen to change it. Oh, I have this same monitor with this same Win95b system on another machine (a NoName 486-166 machine) and it works fine there. It also works fine on a G'way PII-350 with Win98se.
Any ideas?
