Hello everyone.
I used to have dual OS (Windows Me/ Windows 2000) installed on my system, each on a different physical HDD.
Everything was working fine, until I removed the one by (quickly) formatting the relevant HDD. The problem is that during bootup, I still get the option to choose which OS I want to boot with.
I understand that what I did was not the proper deinstallation sequence, but I did not know what else to do. I also understand that the information about the available OSs on the system is written somewhere, but where? What can I do to make the system realize that there is not a second OS available anymore and get rid of the very annoying option?

Edit your Boot.ini and remove the Multi and the lines for the removed O/S
( Assuming you removed Win ME)

Unless the removed O/S was w2k
then you should create a boot disk from inside of win me.
then boot off the floppy.
Remove the NTloader files from the c: drive /boot drive.
Run sys c: to install the win me O/S boot files and overwrite the MBR
Then reboot .

Thanks Rick,

Your advice was accurate and really what I needed. By the way, it was the Win2K I erased in the first place and executing sys c: was enough to do the job.
I couldn't find the NT loader files, so I did not remove them. Since the MBR is modified successfully, I guess I have some trash in the system (or not?)
Do you think you can show me a way to locate these files and individually remove them?
Anyway, the job is done so far. Thank you...

Go into View -> Folder Options -> (look for an advanced tab I think I'm missing a step here) and make sure that you are not hiding system files by checking the show all box...

Check your Original Boot drive.
You may find the Nt boot loader related files and Pagefile
“Ntdetect, Ntldr, Bootsect. dos, Boot.ini, and PageFile.sys”
