Hello,
I have a Pentium III 600 MHz system with: ASUS P3V4X Rev. Edition with Jumper Free tech.; 128 MB PC-133 SDRAM; Voodoo3 3000; Sound Blaster Live Player; Adaptec SCSI 2940 Card; 4.3 GB (68 pin) SCSI HD; ATX power supply. It works on Win2k. Later I had added a pre installed win98 30 GB IDE HD and set it as Master but didn’t set it as default booting disk. I still use my SCSI HD.
Since I added an ISA network card on the Mobo the computer would not boot (i.e., black screen) and I did not get any POST errors (Award BIOS). I thought that it was caused by heat related problem, so I rechecked the cooling system. I even unplugged the processor and plugged it in back. I turned the computer on. It displayed the BIOS automatically without pressing Del button. There was a message something like ”Since you use a new processor the configuration was changed and must be reset”. After setting it back to the previous one. When I want to quit from BIOS the computer hung.
I did unplug the CMOS battery too. Hopefully I can restart it with a fresh setting. I turn it back and saw the blank screen again. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/frown.gif I tried to remove the Memory module and replace it with a 128 MB PC-100 memory module. It worked! http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gifThen I activate the booting sequence to A: - C: - SCSI. I set up the VGA driver successfully and restarted it. When logging in to the win98 user identification as usual, I click OK. Few minutes after that there were an error message told that there is a vxd error in Windows. After waiting for couple minutes and thought that it hung, I restarted it. Since that, It won’t restart and I think that it got worst (the monitor led (and monitor-panel led) lights yellow although I haven’t turned it on yet. Not lights red before turned on and then lights yellow as well). http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/frown.gif
Please help me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
