Hi,
Could someone please tell me what the file Rscmpt.exe is used for? - or where to look to find answer?
My system 1.4 AMD, Win 98SE. The file is on my start-up list but sometimes it starts and sometimes it doesn't for same configuration.
TonyPi.
Here is a link to a message about that file using 100% of the cpu. http://www.annoyances.org/exec/forum/win2000/r1012155630
From what the post said the file is used by your Vidoe card and or drivers.
You may want to update your video card drivers.

Thanks Rick vid drivers updated but no change! Free RAM still fluctuates by 50Mb (system has 512Mb installed) and RSCMPT.exe is shown as loaded sometimes and not others, but no other adverse symptoms - do I just have to live with it?

Try finding it and renaming it to RSCMPT.OLD and see if that solves your problem, if not then you can just rename it back.
if you want to delete it, then save it to a floppy-that way you can restore it if necessary.
