Hello everybody,
This happened to me twice (recently): first time when the computer wasn't doing anything, 2nd time in the middle of the connecting-to-net process - the machine restarted itself out of the blue! The 2nd time, after loading windows (XP proffessional), a window opened telling me that "the system recovered from a serious error" (!!) and asking if I wanted to send the error report to Microsoft (which I do not want).
It also said:
"The following files will be included in this error report:
C:\Windows\Minidump\Mini031602-01.dmp
C:\Documents and Settings\...\Locals\Temp\WER1.tmp.dir00\sysdata.xm l
(this second file doesn't even exist in my temp directory by the way)

Error signature:
BCCode: d1
BCP1: FA0B3000
BCP2: 00000002
BCP3: 00000001
BCP4: F9BA5CB6
OSVer: 5_1_2600
SP: 0_0
Product: 256_1

What does it all mean, for the love of God?!

I just happened to go to the Microsoft XP update website, and there is a new update for a problem that sounds very much like yours.

You need to run Windows Update, this specific problem has a fix...

When all else fails, read the instructions.

I'm trying to go to windows update, but for the moment all I get is "this page cannot be displayed" messages (pathetic dial-up connection speed...)
Maybe in 100 years my XP will be updated (I keep my fingers crossed) and that problem 'll go away :-)

Ah, nevermind. I went to XP update, and saw that I already had their available updates. Today I just formated my C partition, reinstalled XP and byebye errors.
