Erratic folder view settings

Win ME, IE 5.5, Compaq Presario

I have my folder view settings set on "list" with the exception of any photo folders where I use "thumbnail". Why does my view setting continually revert back to "large icons" when I have the "remember each folder's view setting" checked? What am I overlooking?

The "remember each..." setting doesn't replace the default view for any new folders you open, to do that use the "like current folder" setting to change the default for all folder to whatever the current folder's settings are. (thumbnails won't be "harmed" )

Thanks, Ghost Hacker. I wasn't aware of that one. I'll give it a go and see what happens.

Also go to View (in Explorer) and then Folder Options -> View -> and see if the "Don't Save Explore Settings" is checked. If it is uncheck it reboot, after making the changes you want, and then if that is the way you want things to stay recheck it afterwards (doesn't really prevent all changes just many of them).

Thanks, mjc, but I checked my folder options and it doesn't list that "don't save" option. My ME is an upgrade from SE so maybe it didn't include that option? I think ghost's solution might have worked but if I find that it didn't I'll get back to you.
