I build this Thunderbird 800 w/FIC AZ11E MB.
It would not beep or display anything.
Then it displayed and worked ok. I don't know why. (I even posted in this forum about removing EZ-BIOS from the boot process this morning)
Now the system will not beep or display anything again!
I replaced the video card(w/one that i know works)
I replaced the power supply(w/one that i know works)
I replaced the memory(w/one that i know works)
I replaced the floppy(w/one that i know works)
I tried it w/ only the hard drive, floppy, memory, video card-still nothing.
My friend had the same problem with a 600 Athlon, he took it to a shop and they could get it to boot, then they couldn't. They replaced the processor and everything worked fine.
Has anybody heard of this type of thing??????????
Or any suggestions/ideas????
Thanks again.

Jim,
I had precisely the same problem, I got extremely anxious. Apparently the problem was my cheap SDRAM and replacing with another module fixed the problem. However I also switched from 133FSB to 100FSB at the same time I changed the SDRAM, so now i have to see if it is really the FSB speed that is faulty (thus the mobo) or my SDRAM! i`ll switch the jumper tonight with the new SDRAM and see if it still works.
Did you come across any clou about why yours wasn`t booting up?

A friend of mine and I switched out everything again (including memory) yesterday (tuesday). I am pretty sure the FSB jumper is on 100. I'll double-check. We switched everything except CPU and MB.
And we'll do that tonite. Anxious is the word allright!!!!!!!

andreadebiase,
So let me get this straight, your AZ11E MB system works with PC100 memory and the FSB set at 100.
or
It works with PC133 memory and FSB set at 100

Thanks!!

Hi Jim, the mobo works only with jumper at 100, if I set it at 133 FSB will not display anything and wont boot (even if i change memory modules). Now I am wondering what is that jumper for? I thought was for the memory but now i think is for the CPU only since the memory speed settings (100 or 133) are in the bios, so in order to use 133SDRAM you have to choose the 133 option in the bios and that FSB jumper has nothing to do with it. I could be wrong ofcourse but the manual says nothing about it. If i am wrong we have to faulty mobos.

In order to reply to your question: the mobo works with jumper at 100 and 100 sdram. The mobo does not work with jumper at 133 and 100 OR 133 sdram! Note: my 133 sdram however did not work on another mobo with the jumper at 100 so I guess I had also a faulty 133 sdram.

The Jumper on the Motherboard for the FSB can only be set to 133 if your processor is 133fsb. It will not work if your processor is not and would possibly make the ststen stall or hang.
