I have just installed XP Home

My Drives are labelled thus:

A - floppy A
C - hard drive (30Gb)
D - Iomega internal Zip
E - DVD
F - CD-RW

(There is no B drive)

I have another 30Gb unallocated on the HDD

Later on I want to allocate the spare 30Gb as Drive D

My question concerns the Zip Drive letter

I know I can change the drive letter of the Zip from D to B

My question is - do I have to do anything about the Drivers and\or Iomega software or will Windows look after that?

Should I uninstall the Iomega software before changing the Drive letter or is it a non-problem?

Apart from the Iomega stuff I've not installed any software yet

Thanks

Rick

You shouldn’t have to do anything to the zip drive or it’s drivers.

Look under computer management ( it's under your admin tools ), or just right click on My Computer and choose " manage ".

look for the Disk Management service, here you'll be able to change drive letters/move/remove partitons.

If you use this service to change the drive letters, then windows should replace a revelant registry keys to the affected programs. Notice i said " should ", on pure HD drive issues it's always worked just fine in NT and 2k ( haven't tried it in XP yet ) but occasionally i have had a minor fluke or two occur when changing peripheral drive letters, nothing serious-just a minor irritant or two.
