Dual booting Mandrake 8.2 & 98 using grub bootloader. Windows freezes after booting before I can take any action. How do I get into safe mode?

<f5> right after you select Windows from the GRIB menu should take you directly to "safe Mode". <f8> will bring up the start up menu with the option to select safe mode.

F8 didn't work. Problem resolved now though, thanks. I guess about a year's worth of service is what I should expect from an eleven dollar ps/2 wheel mouse...

since I have a multiboot system I went into msconfig and turned the menu on all the time.....yeah, it adds a little to the boot time, but at least I can always get into safe mode.

Sounds like a good idea, especially since I've got to sit and make an operating system choice anyway, and I'm using (or at least playing with) Linux more than Windoze...

Don't you use XOSL, mjc? Am I right in thinking that it does not launch Linux directly, requiring another bootloader like LILO or GRUB be installed? If so, how does that work? You just turn the delay time before automatically loading down to 0 or 1 seconds? Or is that even necessary with only one opsys on its list?
