View Full Version : Duplicated Drive Letters

My Win2k machine has two hard drives. The first is partitioned into c: (2 gig fat32) and d: (37 gig ntfs). The second drive g: is 39 gig ntfs only. Somehow, when I reinstalled win2k along with my mb upograde, my c: and d: drives have become duplicated as e: and f:. e: is identical to c:, and f: is identical to d:. I can switch between them at will. Also, f: is systemroot for some reason, although I'd like to change that to d:

I've tried to delete the appropriate drive definitions from dosdrive entries in the registry (according to MS KB articles), but no joy. They just get recreated again.

How can I force a change of systemroot to d:, and permanently delete these duplicate (e and f) drive definitions?

I understand that I'll have to go into the registry and make a ton of changes to point stuff to d instead of f, and I'm quite prepared to do that.

Thanks!

Ant
