I'm currently using WIN XP as my OS. There are certain programs that don't work well with XP so I'd like to partition the harddrive so that a small portion, say 5GB, is running WIN 98, 2nd Ed.. I have Partitian Magic so I guess this shouldn't be too tough to do.

What I'd like to know is, how do I move from one partition to the next in normal operations? What's the procedure? Thanks.

Hi Nooyawkah,
I did a dual boot recently, and used partition magic.
I now dual boot ME/XP. MY drive C: ME D: Junk E: XP.
Win 98 will need to go on a partition before XP.
Fat 32 so XP can read 98 stuff.
Thats how I've got it, and think its right.
If not one of the pro's will tell you.

Hi Nooyawkah,

The way to switch between the two operating systems is to reboot. When you reboot you'll be presented with a boot menu. Just select the one you want. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

Hey guy,

Just thought you might want to read through THIS (http://www.annoyances.org/exec/forum/winxp/r1012210734) before you get going. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif

I had the feeling 98 should have been installed first. Would plan "B" be easier? That is, installing a 2nd hdd. What's involved in running 2 harddrives ? How will I know if my system will be able to run both of them? And how would I boot up each time?

Sorry Nooyawkah,

I posted that link kinda tongue in cheek. Some people just make to much out of these things.

There is an easier way to do all this. Especially seeing you have Partition Magic. Although I don't find PM all that easy. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif

I'm kinda in the same situation that you are. I'm trying to get two partitions. One with win98se and one with win2000pro. Not to different than what your shootin' for. I'm sure, with the help of the good folks here, we can learn how to do this.

I got books. I got software. I got faith. I'm alittle short on brains but that's where I'm countin' on the kind folks here. Dual booting can't be that complicated.

Any help gratefully recieved.
