Hello,
I've recently upgraded my HD from 4GB to 40GB with a controller card. Reformatted main partition (only partition), and re-installed windows 98 from scratch. I installed my ISA Lan card back in, and can access the internet. I can check email, surf, and download.
I'd like to upgrade browsers (Netscape and IE), but when I download the setup files for IE 6 or Netsc. communicator 4.79 I can't open them. I get the following error for Netscape:
"The decompression of %s failed. There may not be enough free disk space available in the Temp directory"
when I try to run the IE6 setup file I get:
"Extracting file failed. It is most likely caused by low memory (low disk space for swapping file) or corrupted Cabinet file"
Something looks a little fishy in control panel - system - performance tab. It's set to let windows manage my virtual memory, but in the manual settings it shows Hard disk - C:\ -27938MB Free, Minimum - 0, Maximum - no maximum.
Is windows misreporting my HD size on my controller card? The HD properties shows the correct 40GB size. Why can't I open the IE and Netscape setup files??
Any suggestions would be greatly, greatly appreciated....I've had so many problems with this HD install, but I feel like I'm already there.
Thanks.
