Running win98se. Just changed my desktop to use a picture as wallpaper - active desktop on. Now, as the picture comes up, the floppy drive grinds away for about 20 seconds! What started that? there have been no alterations other than enabling the active desktop to cause it. any ideas where I should look, or do I just unplug the drive http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
Thanks

David

Thanks Rick. I've worked my way through that page. Then the penny dropped with a sickening thud. I disabled Zone alarm minilog and the problem stopped. Somehow, it had configured itself to write to floppy first! A quick uninstall/reinstall and i'm back in business. Thanks for the link anyway, useful page.

While we're on ZA...if you desire to shut down the MiniLog...do not remove the tick in your Startup group...shut it down in the Zone Alarm Control Center!

There are apparently known problems with simply shutting it down in your Startup group! http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif
