what happened is Napster crashed while i was downloading a file and I had to hard re-boot the computer. since then my system does not recognize my second partition and whenever i want to access it, the following message appers: "The disk in drive D is not formatted." i would format it, but ihave over 30 gigs of important files on it. it also says something about no recognizable file systme present of the drive. it used to be FAT32, now i don't know what happened and i don't know how to fix it. any help at all would be greatly appreciated. thank you in advance.
Well,
What operating system?
Can the partition be seen in DOS? Safe Mode? Explorer?
Have you done a recent virus scan with up to date virus definitions?

I agree with MJC sounds like somebody or something got a hold of you. You could use a boot disk and go into f/disk to view the partition info just to see where you stand.

If FDISK does see the correct partition(s), or even if it does not, type FDISK /MBR at the DOS prompt to re-write the Master Boot Record. Then reboot and see if that solves it. If most of the stuff on D: is not programs but data, you could try one of the rescue programs like Norton to try and recover it. Do you use any kind of download manager like Download Accelerator Plus? It might help prevent a problem like this in the future.
