im having problems with my work puter heres the specs...
P2 400mhz,win98 se,dsl,cd drive,iomega zip,96mb ram
well the other day i was at windows update and i downloaded a new video driver (dont know why cuz its not like a game at work...)and when i rebooted the display looked like i was in safe mode and wouldnt let me change anything...so i assumed the drivers where not compatible with the old Nvidia tnt that is in it ..then i uninstalled the drivers in safe mode and installed old drivers and the fixed the display problem..but now when i goto System properties\Performance tab it says "Compatibility mode paging reduces overall system performance and Drive C is using an MS-DOS compatibility mode file system"also in my computer there is no icons for my cd drive or my zip drive ...they are not even in the Device manager..
about a month ago i had virus and used norton to clean and it worked fine until i installed those video drivers..damit..lol.well i know a reformat will fix but i dont have time right now to do this so any suggestions would be great ...thanks in advance

What does device manage show under the drives and the IDE controller?

Any conflicts?

Often going into Safe Mode and looking in device manger there you will see "ghost drivers", do any devices show up more than once in safemode?

You can remove the IDE controllers in safemode and let Windows reinstall them.
