re: storage to floppy disk medium

Please help, I have a compressed file using Winzip which is 3.2MB. I need to put this onto floppy disks.

I have tried copy and paste, drag and drop, MS-Dos command copy and XCopy. Each time I receive a message saying that the medium does that have the required capacity.

However my understanding is that the computer should prompt me to insert another disk when the current one is full up???

No Windows disk utility that I know of will "break up" a file so you can save it on different floppies and then reassemble it. You need a version of Winzip called the "self-extractor" It works along with Winzip and will put files on as many floppies as necessary. it will also make them "self-extracting" if you want. You can download it at www.tucows.com (http://www.tucows.com) or on the Winzip site.

Are you saying that you have a winzip file of 3.2 MB? If this is the case then you can either unzip it into a folder then zip the contents to a new compressed zip file in A:

Or you can zip the zipped file into a:

You'll end up with a zip file spanning 3 disks.

I presume you have the Winzip prog?

My version of WinZip, 6.3, supports spanning multiple disks. Did you check the help file for your copy?
