When starting the computer, instead of three programs loading, i have about 8 of them, this slows down the process a lot. Can somebody give me detailed steps how to fix it?

Go through the options or preferences of all your programs and reset everything so it doesn't start at boot.

Start\Settings\Taskbar and Start Menu\Start Menu Programs\ And click the Advanced tab. Click the + beside Programs and open the Start Up folder. Remove everything in it. I always create a Temporary folder somewhere and drag them into that folder, so I can put them back easily if I need to. Otherwise you can delete them.

If you're running win98 you can run msconfig from the run box, and remove most of the items in the Start Up tab, and leave
Scan Registry
Task Monitor
Load Power Profile
Systray
Virus scanner
Everything else can be removed, Uncheck the box in front of each line, it will be removed when you reboot.

Do all this in the order listed here, it's always best to shut programs down from their Options, Preferences or Properties menus rather than either of the other methods.
