'Done' error for IE

I have 2 friends encounter the same problem with their Internet Explorer.

The IE shows a 'Done' msg when the web page had not completely downloading. I'm not too sure which Microsoft IE they're using, but their OS is Win98. My friend was thinking of reformating the HD, or reinstall the IE.

Here are my questions:-

Is there any way to reinstall the IE (for Win95&98)?
Can I reinstall the Windows (95/98) without formating my HD?
Or how to rectify this problem?

Reinstalling Windows should not be neccessary, and is only recommended as a LAST RESORT. Don't even consider it yet.

NOTE: If anyone suggests reinstalling windows before we try everything we can think of, I will delete your post.

If reinstalling IE is necessary, it can be done, but try the Internet repair tool first. It is located in Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs. Sometimes that will fix a number of problems.

This also might be related to server problems, not IE, or internet settings. You could have security settings affecting it, or java turned off, or image loading could be turned off etc.

Maybe some of the other folks here will have some better ideas, or specific settings to check, don't reinstall anything yet, until we exhaust all other options.

You can also check the Microsoft site, they might have a patch you can install that may help.

We also need to know what version of IE we are dealing with.

Any other ideas???
