Please help. (I've already ordered a new CPU, haven't received it yet.) I upgraded my video card, using I/O Magic, 3D HP graphics accelerator, 16MB, PCI. Current system config.: 64MB RAM, Cyrix 6X86MX-PR233 cpu, ESS tech. sound card with current drivers. Problem: Game freezes during gameplay, any charactor or it shuts down by itself. Changed display to 640x480, using 2D mode, no music in background and it still occurs. Have DirectX 7a installed. Any suggestions?

Hi Varissul,

I don't know much about gaming. However, I would suggest if the game is fairly new, that you might need DirectX 8.0. Just a thought. Have you checked the system requirements for the game, and does your system meet those requirements?

Or, in addition to that, you might want to consider upgrading even further to a better video board for gaming. I hear the Geforce is excellent.

In addition, have you checked your components in Device Manager for conflicts? A yellow exclamation mark, or any kind of yellow mark actually, will signify a conflict. Or, if you have diagnostic software, such as Norton, run that and see what happens.

Get back to us with an update, and one of us will surely be able to help further. If you do find conflicts, post those as well.

Cheers,

I doubt it's the video card. I only have an 8mb video card and the game runs fine. It's not too graphically intensive.

The machine meets the system requirements, 233 is minimum CPU, but should work fine.

I would think update video drivers and Direct-X. And check for conflicts, as Blue suggested.

hey, y'all, I think it's the processor. Not fast enough to handle the game. I ordered an AMD K2-6 MMX W/3D NOW. should fix the problem. I'll prbly go to battle.net and download the bug fixes and see if that helps. Supposedly DII requires completely petium compatible sys., which mine is not. thanks for the help.
