Hi Wheeldon,
Well first of all a floppy drive dosen't have any software to run, it's basically a hardware issue, or just cleaning that all it provides to fix it. There's also some things you could check in the BIOS to make sure everthing is setup correctly.
Try some of these links, hopefully they can help. http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/ARTICLES/Q131/6/90.asp http://www.dan.co.uk/techs/fdd_ts.htm http://www.jdresearch.com/tsd170.htm
GOOD Luck

I often experience problems with floppies. It is generally acknowledged they are not very reliable so it may not be your FDD. Check whether the disc in question can be read by another machine.

Once I get read problems on one I toss it but that doesn't help if you've got data on it that u need.

Perhaps running SCANDISK over the disc might identify any problems with it??? (Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Scandisk - Select FDD)

weeldon....First: Try any of the floppy's your system cant read in someone elses computer. If the disks can be read in thier machine, you likely have a defective floppy drive (they only cost about $20 to replace if you can do it...$50 for someone else to do it). When you get your floppy drive going again come back to the forum and get some opinions of whether to load Win Me or something else (like Win 98 SE !)...Good luck
