I just installed Partition Magic and it will not run. I get the following error message: a required .DLL file, WS2_32.DLL, was not found.

What's up and how can I fix it?

Thanks for your help,
Big Al

Start by uninstalling the program.
Then reboot.

Reinstall the program again.
Watch for any error messages about file not found or unable to access.
Reboot again after the install is complete.

If that doesn't cure the problem it's time to call the company.
You may have a bad disk or need an update to the program

I emailed two copies to you...

And if you don't trust me, go here:

Just a suggestion, rather than a fix for the problem:

Find the file "pqmagict.exe" which should have been installed with Partition Magic. This is the text-mode, DOS-based version of Partition Magic. It has all the functionally of the graphical, Windows-based version.

Plop this file onto a bootable floppy and run it from there. It is much, much safer NOT to be running from your harddrive and NOT to be using Windows when you are manipulating something as critical as your harddrive layout.

(By the way, "pqmagict.exe" was the filename for v.4 of Partition Magic, dunno if they changed this filename in more recent versions.)
