here's a question for the ages...
I'm working on a dell laptop that has one partition, fat32, 100%
It has win98 and win2k pro sharing the same partition. When I boot the LT I get a message asking me to select os. I thought this wasn't possible?

Yes it is you can have up to 4 primaries with Fdisk. i.e. you can have up to 4 OSs on one hard drive but when you have 4 oss youll probably need 3rd party software to switch between them namely system commander. I think with system commander you can have more than 4 though.

Win 2000 is built on the NT kernel, and probably uses the same boot loader as NT or similar. As long as NT is installed on a FAT partition it can be installed and either OS can be used. The repartitioning is done during the install, and fdisk might still report it as a single FAT32 partition. At least that's the best I can understand it so far...just getting into NT so I'm definitely no authority on it...
So many idiots, and only six bullets...
