Hi!

I recently rebuilt my PC, mostly just because, but I was also having a problem waking up the PC out of suspend. I eventually noticed (by hitting ctrl alt del once and then moving the mouse for a while) that it would wake up to the close program dialog box that one (or another) Norton System Works 2000 program was not responding. So anyway, when I rebuilt my PC, before the EVIL live update ran, the PC was working like a charm for about a week. Then BAM! Immediately after running live update, I had the same old problem. The Norton Techies don't believe me, but I KNOW that soemthing the live update installed is the cause. So I uninstalled, but you know how these programs are leaving behind who knows what. Well sorry for the book, but here's the question...Does anyone know why this happens? Actually, here's the second question...Does anyone know a way to track down the source to get it off. I really don't feel like typing...fdisk...format...you know the routine. Thanks alot for your help.....brianZ

Here is a page from Symanec on how to uninstall SystemWorks: How to Uninstall... (http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/nsw.nsf/docid/1998101910305707)

I have had real good experiences with Norton SystemWorks 2000 & 2001 on all of the machines I service. The only thing I would not install from that 2000 edition is the CrashGuard...it is a nightmare. If this was on your machine it may be the culprit. I agree with MJC...uninstall the entire kit & kaboodle...maybe after that try the 2000...2001 is actually a big improvement over 2000 and Symantec offers $$ for upgrading if that interests you. Might be coming out with a newer version than 2001 yet...
