I had to use Windows98 start-up disk, but am not receiving email in Out Exp nor can send anything out of it. I get this: Host POP3 could not be found. Error # 0x800CCCOD.

I am new to all this and don't understand much - very confusing!

Do I need Quick Launch for Out Exp? Not sure if I have all files of this. Can I get them back if were deleted? Some of my Help in Out Exp also will not open. Why?

And are there any unneccesary files I can get rid of safely to increase my memory sources? I play games alot on Pogo and MSN Gaming zone, often get the error "illegal operation and will be shut down". What is a stack dump?

Thanks for any help

First make sure that the 'pop3' and 'smtp' settings are correct.

To check click 'tools' then 'accounts'. Now click the 'mail' tab and highlight your email profile. Click 'properties' and open the 'servers' tab. Here you can change the 'incoming' and 'outgoing' mail servers. Be sure to check for typos. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

Also make sure your DNS server IP addresses are correct. Your ISP can help you there.

You don't need Quick Launch to use Outlook Express. If needed reinstalling or upgrading Internet Explorer will also reinstall Outlook Express. However I don't think that step is needed right now.

As for the 'stack dump'. A stack dump is just a 'dump' of the CPU's contents at the time of the program crash.

Hope this helps http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif
