Asus digital vcr

I installed asus digital vcr successfully, but when i try to run it i get the splash screen and then a msg that says "Eaccessviolation", and an ok button, i click ok and then nothing happens. i tried dein and rein and same problem. im at a loss. help please.

Make sure that the software is designed to run on the operating system that you are using. If you are using an older software package, it may not work on a newer operating system. The manufacturer's web site may have updated software.

i have win 98 and the manual says it should work fine. i dont know if it has anything to do with the updated driver i got for the video card, it was a detonator driver.
