I've got this problem that occurs whenever i go to certain websites(too many to list). Anyways, sometimes when i click on a link, it seems to lock up, uploads the page to a certain point then locks. Now, if i had another page opens, these are now locked up too. I close netscape, ctrl-alt-del and find that netscape is still running. I end-task on it once, won't get it rid of it. I have to do it 4 four times before it ends. Then netscape is closed. Anyone else seems to be having this kind of problem? is it just the web and poor script writing?
This is truely annoying http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/mad.gif

Methinks you got a bad install of a bad program...
If you really have to use Netscrape, uninstall and reinstall it. Otherwise I'd say just uninstall it and use IE. Make sure you disable the Smart Download feature during the reinstall, it "phones home" to Netscape and tells them what files you have downloaded and from where. I many cases problems are caused by Netscape and IE fighting over who's boss, both want to be default browser, and no matter which one you set as default they still fight...that may be your problem, and it's causing it to lock up.
In some worst case scenarios, I've seen cases where Windows had to be reinstalled due to problems related to Netscape, so be prepared for the worst...it doesn't remove the over-200 registry entries it creates or changes.

I've had this exact same thing happen to me a number of times.
In fact I have a post here somewhere talking about it.
From what I have noticed (Watching the status line) every time this happens.
The status line shows an AD site( Advertising ) and Netscape locks.
The cause being the site doesn't respond and the page and or script will not continue till the ad site releases the script.
Or the script from the Ad site makes a call directly to Explorer But netscape is supposed to handle it and explorer doesn't start.
It is a conflict and I haven't found a cure as yet.
Depending on what version of IE and Netscape you have .
I used the uninstall to remove all the IE plugins I could without trashing the system.
This helped But has not stopped it completely .
I am Using Netscape 4.77 on a clean install. I found that NS 6 java support also contributed to it
Even after being uninstalled. (Another case of Not removing itself completely)( Java That is)

I'd rather stay with netscape...been using it for years, prefer the simplicity it offers. IE i find has to many security holes and bugs and i hate outlook. But, I use both to get to certain websites, so maybe that's my problem.

I agree, it seems to happen at the time that an ad is being loaded. I'm still searching databases on this problem, and will let ya know if i find anything. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif
