Hi. I'm new here and I think this website is very cool. I need help. I bought the pc game Diablo 2, and installed it. The problem is to do with the computer i think. It is windows 98, but whenever i click play game, it says, 'Please verify that the play disc is in the drive, then click retry.' I done that about 75 times in a row and still nothing. Please reply as soon as possible because i really want to play this game. If you reply, then please send a version of your message to my email account. flamingdiablo@hotmail.com Thanks guys. See ya!

These are the same symptoms when trying to play a pirate game that has not had all the stuff done to it. (If this is the case dont even bother to try asking how to).

Is this an original game, if it is can you run other games from CD.

If you can I'd take the CD back, if you cant then theres problems with your CD-ROM. (If this is the case give as much system details as possible and everyone will try their bestto help you.

Can you play other CD ROMs (Data or Music) this will give you indication if fault is at CD-ROM, Post back as if it is CD-ROM their are guys here that will help you check if it is knackered or if its a setting or something else thats wrong, before you go taking the CD-ROM away for repair.

Try your games on a friends machine.

Try uninstalling and reinstalling the game. Do you have the latest drivers for your video and sound cards? Do you have the correct version of Direct X? Most stores will exchange software for a copy of the same because sometimes disk are just not made correctly...

When all else fails, read the instructions.

Put your game into a friends machine, this will quickly diagnose if the CD is knackered, if you get same error take it back.

Can you play other games from CD on your machine, if you can then it must be the game

(Your System does meet all the required specs on the games box e.g required CD speed).

Yeah, other games do work, but have different problems. Nothing to do with their cds. I'll try to check on my friends pc. Does anyone know how to uninstall my disc drive? I wanna try that, then install it again. That might work. Ok. Thanks.

What I meant by what I said is hopefully less confusing then the contemplation of the question that led to the confusion in the 1st place.......
