I've set up a ftp server on my home comp. For some reason some users can log in, see the home directory but nothing more. They can't download or browse subdirectories. Both ports 20 and 21 are forwarded to the Linksys router.
Any suggestions?

my 1st guess would be that the people trying to login are also on a lan?
if any of your computers are hooked directly to the internet you should run the ftp from that comp and this should solve the problem

The users are all home users, 2 have dsl and 2 have cable. Everyone is able to upload but the cable users cannot download. Could this be due to their ISPs protocols or something along that nature?
Are you suggesting running the server in a dmz zone?

stab in the dark but many cable providers do not allow FTP or any other type of server to be run off of their network. To discourage this could they have somehow blocked port 21??
