Outlook Express can't set as Default Email

I am having problems making Outlook express my default email viewer in IE5. I can go into tools/options in Express and press the make default button. I press the apply button. Then close the window. I then open the options again and find that is has changed back.

I have also tried to set it in IE5.0. I go the email default and the only option I have is Outlook. Outlook express is not a choice.

This all started when I removed Outlook. Express was not removed but it was removed as the email viewer in IE5. I have since reinstalled it but nothing has changed. How can return Outlook Express as my email viewer from the IE5 tool bar?

Rather than change the settings in Express you nedd to go change the settings in IE5.

Tools/Internet options/Programs and then select your program in the drop down boxes where relevant.

I tried that. I even reloaded IE5 and Outlook Express. I finally updated to IE5.5 and it is now fixed. I have no idea what went wrong. I appreciate the Help.
