i have an hp pavilion 6553 i need a new mother board for it,but i cant seem to find out what kind it is,or where to get one,,hp hasnt helped, and im tierd of fooling with them any suggestions??,,thanks.
It is definitely a proprietary board that if replaced will leave you unable to use your restore disk.
That said it probably is a Trigem i810 board called cognac. If HP will sell you a replacement it would probably be in the $150+ range in which case you can get an i810 board and Win98 from elsewhere and not worry about not being able to restore.
A good place to look for MOBO prices us PriceWatch (http://www.pricewatch.com/)

Hello,
If you are still tying to figure out who made your motherboard, jump on a internet available computer and do a search for Wim's bios page. What you will have to do is rebbot your computer and see what bios your old board has, if you can. Hope this helps!
