I was installing the Win98se but somewhere in the early part of the setup it could no longer continue because I am getting an error message that says Probable Virus in the Boot-up sector then options of continue or not (y/n) choosing either won't work it just hangs up, the only way to get out is to ctrl-alt-del. This is being installed in a freshly formatted drive that was working. I tried to scan the hard drive by taking it out and hooked it on my other pc as a slave drive & scan it using my Norton Anti virus but the virus was not detected. Pls help me. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/frown.gif , thanks.

Did you make a set of rescue disks with Norton? you can use that to boot the hard drive with and scan it( including the master boot record ) without loading windows. Make sure you have the latest anit-virii definitions and try it. If that fails you'll have to FDISK /MBR and delete the old boot record, reset your partition(s) and re-format then install windows. That should take care of any virus you have.

You should also check your Bios settings.
In them you will find a Virus Alert setting.
Turn it OFF or it will not allow you to write to the boot sector
